Fortunately we don’t all look the same or have the same assets. Some people have more eye lid to show off and others have eyes that are far apart. Some people are satisfied with the appearance of this feature, but of course there are a couple of us who will want the opposite. You may want a certain look for a specific occasion. This is where the right type of eye makeup for your eye shape is going to help you.
Deep set eyes
If you have deeply sunken eyes with a deep crease then it is best to use a light color on the bright side. Spread the hue on the whole lid of the eye because this will bring it out more. Using dark colors on the brow bone will make the eyes look even more deeply sunken so avoid this. Blend a medium color over and use a pencil to smudge over the brow.
Round eyes
Round eyes will give you that innocent doll look which is not always something you want to show off. This is where eye shape makeup is useful. Apply a medium to dark shade into the crease of the eye. You could also extend the eyeshadow from the corner of the eye down to the lower lash which will take away that round feature. The entire lid should be covered with a light color. It will help if you add a little eyeliner on both the top and the bottom of your lids. Mascara is also a healthy option to take.
Wide Set eyes
If you have a generous gap between your eyes like Oprah Winfrey then you will know that you are a candidate of wide set eyes. Start with an eye shadow of a medium tone, gliding upwards. Blend in a lighter toned eye shadow to the brow bone to the center of the lid. Now move onto a darker coler at the corner of the eye, working towards the nose into the brow. Lightest shades should be concentrated under the brow in the middle and darker tones around the edges so that the eyes are drawn in. Add some mascara.
Small eyes
Some of us are stuck with small eyes and this is not the end of the world, but there are times when you want to make your eyes stand out. It could be that you are going to a function and want to look the part. In a case like this eye shapes and makeup come into play. Start with a medium tone eye shadow at the outer corner, working your way slightly upwards. Apply color to the entire lid and extend your way to the crease. The darkest color should extend to the corners and the crease. Use mascara on the upper and lower lashes. Make sure your eyebrows are plucked and shaped nicely. Make good use of your eye liner and use it freely.
Hooded eyes
If you can’t see your eyelids then you know you have hooded eyelids, just like Paris Hilton. This is also a sign of age for some when lids start to sage. For this shape it is necessary to apply a light and bright eye shadow in the area of the crease as well as the hooded area. The outer corner should have a dark shade applied to it. Mascara and eye liner are both useful, but only apply liner to the upper lash. Soften the shadow as you approach the brow. Highlighting with a pastel color is a nice touch.
